Prerequisite - Sewing for the Home or Clothing 1

 

This course is designed for students who like to do creative hands-on projects with the intention of using their technology and sewing skills to earn an income.  The student will operate a computer to do design and digitizing work, a sewing machine for creative textile work, a commercial quilting machines a commercial embroidery machine, and pressing equipment,  An in-school quilting/embroidery business will be operated through which the student will learn concepts for developing and operating their own entrepreneurial enterprise.  Each student will have an opportunity to interact with customers, keep records, advertise, purchase supplies, write a business plan, and produce a product for sale.  This course provides an opportunity to jumpstart an earnings career.  Participation in FCCLA may be an integral part of the course.  The student will be required to purchase fabric and batting for 3-4 lap size quilts.  Advanced Studies will be awarded for this course.
