fundred dollar bill project-working with artist mel chin

news: phs students collaboratively work with artist mel chin
provo high school students are in the second stage of working with nationally recognized artist mel chin on project PAYDIRT. This project was conceived by Mel Chin (view his artist profile http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/chin) Mel's intent to be anonymous in this project is based on his belief that this should be "our" project to help New Orleans, not his. Look at the link to view Mel's art:21 bio so those not familiar with his work can get a greater sense of his art practice.

artist trading cards

students involved with international artist's trading card movement
students have been creating small works of art, know as as artist trading cards. students have been exchanging these are miniature works of art created on 2 1⁄2 X 3 1⁄2 inch card stock. they are originals, small editions and, most importantly, self-produced. anybody can produce them. the idea is that you trade them with other people who produce cards, either at trading sessions (one held at provo high school on march 29th, 2007) or wherever you meet another atc trader in person. it is important that you meet other people in person to trade. watch this video of the event or for more information google it or visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards)

golden rule project

phs students work on their own golden rule artwork.
T he Golden Rule Project was begun in November 2003. The initial aim of the project was to place the Golden Rule in middle schools and high schools in the local community in a manner that would attract the attention of the students and encourage consideration of the Golden Rule. As a result, a Golden Rule document was created as a work of art. It consists of sixteen golden rule formulations taken from different cultures, philosophies and teachings placed on a two-page, framed diptych. Each page measures 21" x 13" (Golden Mean proportions) and was hand-printed on letterpress by Marnie Powers-Torrey and Jennifer Sorensen of the University of Utah Book Arts Program on hand-marbled Rives BFK paper. In addition, various local artists in the community contributed their time and talents to illuminate these diptychs to create unique works of art for each recipient school. to see the document click here.
