Credit Grades 11-12 Fee: Prerequisite:
Admission by referral or application, required summer reading, & American
Literature Honors. Students in this class
engage in careful reading and critical analysis of literature. Students read
works from several genres and periods from the sixteenth to the twenty-first
century. Students consider a work’s structure, style, and themes as well as
the use of figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone. Students will study advanced vocabulary,
composition, rhetoric, and literary artistry.
They will prepare for college and the Advanced Placement test in
literature and composition given in the spring. Up to eight college credit
hours can be earned. Students will
learn advanced writing skills. |
