1:Sewing for the Home (PA)

Credit--.5 or 1.0 (Semester or Year) Grades 9-12 Fee: $10/sem Prerequisite: Homework: Weekly This course is a beginning level sewing class
designed for those students who want to sew items for their home. The student
will operate a sewing machine, serger, pressing equipment and develop basic
sewing techniques such as casings, hems, tabs, buttons, buttonholes, facings,
mitering, seams, seam finishes, pattern interpretation and construction
analysis. Projects will include decorative toss pillows, pillow shams, duvet
covers, simple window dressings, shower curtains, bed skirts, table
dressings, simple slipcovers, rugs and more! This class is the gateway to
more advanced concepts taught in the quilting class that can open the door to
entrepreneurial opportunities. Participation in FCCLA may be an integral part
of this course.
