Monthy as needed Do you think you hate to sew,
or do you love it, this course is designed for you. If you have had little or no sewing experience
and you want to learn, or if you have struggled with learning to sew in the
past, this is the class for you.
Students will learn the most basic sewing and pressing skills. They will operate a sewing machine and serger, use basic pressing equipment and learn basic
techniques such as seam allowance, edge finishes, casings, buttons and
buttonholes. Also, students will learn
basic measuring and fitting skills, They will read and follow a commercial pattern,
and make minor fitting adjustments, as needed. This foundational course will prepare
students to move smoothly into more difficult sewing projects. Some of the projects will include, supply
bag, backpack, pajama pants, boxer shorts, scrub shirts, zipper pack, skirts,
etc... Each student will be assessed
and given projects to custom fit personal skill level. FCCLA may be an integral part of this
course. Some students may choose to
participate in sewing competitions and showcase their amazing new sewing
skills. |
