This course deals with the beginning of civilization up to 1815. It begins with Mesopotamia and Egypt and ends with Napoleon's defeat and exile. The cultures and civilizations of the following may be included: the Middle East, Early South and East Asia, the Greeks, the Romans, Byzantine and the Russians. Particular topics that also may be included: Islam, Medieval Europe, the Renaissance, The Reformation The Age of Monarchs. The Enlightenment, The Age of Revolution.
