Licensing Program
  • A license is awarded upon completion of a program of study approved by a licensing agency


    • Manicurist, Building Maintenance, Licensed Practical Nurse

Apprenticeships
  • Over 850 Occupations Sponsored by the US Department of Labor
  • On the job, paid, supervised training with technical instruction in a specific trade
  • Length of training usually varies 3-5 years
  • Sponsored by individual employers or labor groups
  • Pay increases as skills increase (every 6 months)
  • Apprentices compete more effective in labor market upon completion of training
  • Certifications are honored nationally

Private Career Schools
  • Degrees vary from a Bachelor’s to certification only
  • Time requirements vary depending on program
  • Includes Business, Cosmetology, Technical/Trade Schools
    • LDS Business College, ITT Tech, Midwives College of Utah, Mountain West College, Nuemont, Provo College, Stevens-Henager, Utah Career College,

MILITARY - ENLISTED
    • Generally a 4 year obligation
    • High School diploma
    • ASVAB
    • Coordinated by recruiters
      • Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force recruiters visit campus regularly
      • There are more than 4,100 different jobs both full-time and part-time duty.
      • Many are non-combat related and most have civilian counterparts
      • Examples—Air Traffic Controllers, Graphic Designers, Registered Nurses, Accountants
